The construction of the Hovrinskaya hospital was started in 1981. It should have been built on the place of an old cemetery. Sick people from the whole Soviet Union could have been treated in this hospital - according to the plans of the government it should have accommodated 1300 patients. However, in 1985 the construction was stopped for unknown reasons.
Looking from a bird’s-eye perspective, the building of the Hovrinskaya hospital has a shape of triangular cross with branches at the ends. All three wings of the building converge at the centre of the building, and the side parts of the abandoned hospital create three yards. This hospital is a 10-store building and it also has 2 to 4 underground levels. Nowadays underground floors are almost completely flooded.
Besides the main hospital building there is an annex to it, which is a building of an ophthalmologic clinic. Residents of Moscow have named it ‘Umbrella’ because it has a form resembling the logo of the secret corporation from the game ‘Resident Evil’. Some people think that the building looks like the sign of Biohazard, others see three connected brainpans. It is believed that between two buildings there is a flooded tunnel, big enough for a truck to go through.
At the underground floors, at the floor minus one, there is a non-drying lake of 400 square meters in size. It is that lake near which meetings of members of satanic cult Nemostor were held. The dead bodies of their sacrifices - cats, dogs and people - are still found in it. There is always a mist over the lake and it is difficult to see something even with a lantern. Who knows, maybe some of the members of this sect are still wandering in the dark cellar corridors.
There are so many mysteries and inexplicable phenomena concerning this hospital. There are rumors about phantoms and ghosts cries and screams of children that can be heard in dark and empty corridors.
Inside the Hovrinskaya hospital it is essential that you move extremely carefully, because there are so many pits, holes and gaps in it. And some of the traps can be purposely covered with metal plates. When the victim steps on those, he falls on specially prepared sharp metal rods.
In any case dead people are found here every year. Probably they are victims of crimes, there can be suicides – but nobody can know for sure.
However, there is an inscription on the walls of the abandoned Hovrinskaya hospital: ‘This hospital is a land of wonders, you get into it and then you disappear there…’
